Engine Failure Ends Oulton Park Weekend Before It Begins

Kam Dixon's hopes of building on the momentum from his breakthrough top-10 finish at Brands Hatch were brought to an abrupt end on Friday morning after an engine failure ruled him out before the opening practice session had even begun.

Following his strongest weekend of the 2026 Pirelli National Superstock Championship season at Brands Hatch less than two weeks earlier, Kam arrived at Oulton Park looking to continue the progress made in recent rounds. However, disaster struck before Free Practice 1 had even got underway.

While the bike was being warmed up on the stands in preparation for the opening session, the engine suffered a catastrophic failure, leaving the team with no option but to withdraw from the remainder of the weekend. The engine had only recently been fitted ahead of the previous round at Brands Hatch, making the failure all the more frustrating for Kam and the team.

Reflecting on the disappointment, Kam said:

"Unfortunately, our run of bad luck continues. Our weekend was over before it even got started after the engine failed while it was warming up ahead of FP1.

"It's incredibly frustrating, especially as it was a brand new engine that we'd only fitted for Brands Hatch.

"I'd like to apologise to all of my sponsors, Palmer Performance, and Tom and Sue, who made the trip to Oulton Park to support me, only for me not to make it out on track.

"The only positive is that I'm going home healthy. We'll get everything sorted and come back fighting at Thruxton."

With Oulton Park yielding no championship points through no fault of rider or team, attention now turns to Round 7 of the 2026 Pirelli National Superstock Championship at Thruxton in mid-August.  After the encouraging progress shown at Brands Hatch, Kam will be hoping for a trouble-free weekend to continue closing the gap to the riders ahead in the championship.
