Silverstone struggles at the British Grand Prix weekend

Silverstone proves a tough nut to crack for Kam.

The third round of the 2025 Pirelli National Superstock Championship took place at the iconic Silverstone circuit, appearing as a support class to the MotoGP at the Tissot Grand Prix of the United Kingdom. It was a unique opportunity for Kam Dixon and the rest of the field to race on the world stage, with huge crowds and global attention over the weekend.

With a packed MotoGP schedule, the Superstock Free Practice session didn’t get underway until 18:00 on Friday, with Kam and the rest of the field waiting patiently through the day. While this meant a long wait before hitting the track, it allowed Kam to enjoy watching the world’s best riders in action.

When it was finally time to roll out, Kam completed 12 laps of the full Grand Prix layout, posting a best time of 2:09.728 to finish P18 overall.

Afterwards, Kam said:

“I felt like I was riding well, but the bike just didn’t quite agree with me today. We’ve got quite a few changes to make overnight to help get me up to speed for tomorrow. It’s a tough circuit for us with these long straights, so we’ll focus on making gains in the twistier sections to try and close the gap.”

Qualifying on Saturday took place at 13:10 to set the grid for the first race of the weekend later in the day. Kam set a time of 2:08.774 on board the Tinkler's Yamaha R1, sealing 14th place and just missing out on a spot on the fourth row of the grid by 0.08 seconds.

In Race One on Saturday evening, Kam crossed the line in P17. His fastest lap was a 2:10.317, placing him 17th on the grid for Sunday’s second race.

After the race, Kam commented:

“Another tough day today. I just can’t seem to catch a break at the moment. I’m giving it everything I’ve got, but sometimes this sport doesn’t make it easy. We’ll regroup and come back fighting tomorrow.”

Sunday’s race was held in breezy and overcast conditions, but the crowd remained strong as the Superstock riders returned to the track for their second outing. Kam brought the bike home in P17 once again, improving on his race pace with a best lap of 2:09.017.

Afterwards, he shared:

“Not much to say really - a very disappointing weekend. Big thanks to the whole team for working so hard to give me a good bike for the races. On to the next one.”

There’s now a short break in the calendar before Kam returns to action at his home round - Snetterton - across the weekend of 20th–22nd June.
