Tough End to Kam Dixon’s 2025 Season at Brands Hatch
A demanding weekend at the Brands Hatch season finale brought Kam Dixon’s 2025 campaign to a close, as pain from previous crashes forced him to withdraw before Sunday’s race.
The 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship season reached its conclusion at the iconic Brands Hatch GP Circuit, where Kam Dixon returned to action for the final time this year. After missing the previous round at Oulton Park, Kam was back aboard his Honda Fireblade and aiming to finish his second season in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship on a positive note.
Heading into the weekend, Kam sat 12th in the overall standings, just 14 points away from a place in the top ten. The 2.43-mile Kent circuit, with its fast corners and dramatic elevation changes, provided a fitting stage for the season finale and one last opportunity to end the year strongly.
Dry but overcast skies greeted riders for the opening day of action, with conditions remaining similar throughout both sessions. In Free Practice 1, Kam completed 16 laps and recorded a best time of 1:29.048 on his sixth lap, placing him 17th overall. It was a steady start as he reacclimatised to the Fireblade and rebuilt rhythm after sitting out the Oulton Park round.
The afternoon’s Free Practice 2 session saw Kam improve further, completing 15 laps and setting a 1:28.685 on lap nine. Despite the progress, the field was exceptionally close, and Kam ended the day 23rd in the combined standings, 2.704 seconds off the top spot.
After Friday’s sessions, Kam said:
“I didn’t quite feel myself today, and it’s been a bit of a struggle to find my usual flow on the bike. Hopefully I’ll feel stronger tomorrow so we can make some solid progress.”
With qualifying and two races scheduled for Saturday, it was set to be a demanding day for Kam and the team.
Similar conditions to Friday’s sessions greeted the Pirelli National Superstock riders for Saturday morning’s qualifying at Brands Hatch. Kam showed an encouraging step forward in pace, posting a best time of 1:27.963, which placed him 16th on the grid for the first race of the weekend.
It marked a definite improvement after a challenging Friday, with Kam heading the sixth row and showing renewed confidence ahead of the double race day.
The opening race of the weekend took place in cool, cloudy conditions, with an air temperature of 13 degrees and a track temperature of 16.7 degrees. A safety car was deployed on lap five following a faller at Hawthorn Bend, compressing the field for a mid-race restart.
Kam maintained a consistent pace throughout the 12-lap contest and crossed the line in 16th place, just outside the points. His best lap of 1:27.998 showed steady progress and composure in a tightly packed midfield battle.
The second 12-lap race got underway under similar conditions. Kam’s start was less than ideal, dropping to 19th by the end of lap one. By lap five, he was lapping quicker than several riders ahead but struggled to find a way through, losing time behind slower traffic.
Although his pace improved, Kam appeared to be slightly down on outright speed through the traps, limiting his ability to make passes. He climbed to 17th by lap seven before the red flag came out on lap eight after an incident at Clearways, which unfolded directly in front of him.
The race was not restarted, and with half points awarded, Kam was left frustrated not to continue his push up the order.
The final race of the 2025 Pirelli National Superstock Championship was held in wet conditions, which often act as an equaliser across the grid. Unfortunately, Kam did not take part, with his name absent from both the morning warm-up session and the official starting grid.
He later confirmed that lingering pain from two crashes the previous week had made it impossible to continue:
“Not how I wanted to end my season this weekend. Unfortunately, I was still suffering really badly from my crashes last week, and the pain was too much to fight through. I’d like to apologise to my team and sponsors for all their efforts this weekend, which turned out to have very little return. Dad, Tom, and Michael have been just so good this year as a team, and I couldn’t do it without them.”
As a result, Kam concludes his 2025 season 16th in the Championship standings, with a total of 66 points.
